They are great little motors - the best 2.5hp out there, imo. It is light and has a good lubrication system. They are also very efficient.

@slaughterbat In most states, any boat that is propelled by a motor or engine must be registered. In my case it wasn't expensive at all but the paperwork required was unbelievable!!! I spent months trying to get it legal, but that was mostly due to government red tape. It was one of the most legally challenging things I've ever attempted. I had to prove that the prior owner's had never registered it in their name. It required afadavits galore, a certificate or origin from the mfg, etc.

@tabcan I highly recommend that if you buy a used boat OF ANY TYPE OR SIZE, get a notarized bill of sale, and keep the contact information of the previous owner. Beyond that, make sure you can forge the heck out of any legal document.

That would make a good back up motor. Quiet too.

I have the same motor and it over heat after about 20mins at 2/3 throttle.. what can I do.. is so hot smoke started to come out.

Actually the camcorder makes it sound noisy. My camcorder is designed to boost sound levels that are weak...or adjust down when sounds are loud.

Very nice setup. No need to spend 30 grand on a bass boat....just get to the fish! I bet that 2.5 hp can make that canoe scoot.

@tabcan Isn't the US suck a great place.... They should make it anything over a number of cc has to be registered, a 15 foot sailboat doesn't and that could destroy docks and boats.
