I once heard this gun described as "the weapon that kills you so hard, you will be reincarnated as a stillborn".

" Carry often and shoot seldom" is a great description. Most Confederates would replace their LeMat revolvers at first chance.

Dr. Shot, MD has been banned from the channel. Usually I give one warning, but when someone makes a dozen posts like that, a warning won't do any good.

This has always been my most favorite revolver from the 1800's. The concept is so badass and it looks cool and unique as well. I'd love to see a newer version of the LeMat that fixes the design flaws, updated for newer cased rounds etc but retains it's appearance and the hammer switch for the shotgun. The idea of having a 42.-44. caliber with a 20 gauge shotgun ready to go in one pistol is almost fantasy haha. Just enthralled with this piece of history and the overall ingenuity of this and other firearms back then and even today.

Actually a very beautiful and unique revolver. I would definitely take it to the range more often if I owned it, even with its noticeable flaws and drawbacks. Its something people rarely get to see, let alone fire.
