in this alternative history, in 1984, Gorbachev was murdered by a hitman thought to have been hired by hardline communists to eliminate him. after that in 1985, without Gorbachev in power and Chernenko dead. The Soviet Union experienced a vacuum in power. Taking advantage of this, the hardline communists seized power and then appointed Dmitry Yazov. marshal of the Soviet Union and hardline communist leader. under Yazov, the Soviet Union succeeded in re-invading Afghanistan, resulting in a landslide victory for the Soviet Union. This made communism easily spread to Pakistan and then India to Southeast Asia (on the eastern front communism was spread by China from Vietnam). As a result, communist ideology began to influence communist movements throughout the world, which caused many communist movements, especially in Latin American and African countries, to succeed in overthrowing governments and then establishing socialist regimes. This also had an impact on Europe where in the end there were massive demonstrations driven by the communist party which ultimately led to the fall of all democratic regimes in Europe and then the transition of the European Union to socialist. At the end of the 1980s, the US was forced to disband, one of which was Alaska.
