Woah, I thought that Apollo refused bc he understood that he had no chance against Ares and it was pointless. I absolutely forgot about the Hyacinth incident! Well noted!

It would’ve been so funny if the shot panned out as Dionysus looked to Hermes on his right and tried handing the discus to him and Hermes giving the same reaction as Apollo bc of Crocus also dying from a discus

The moment I saw this scene in the episode I audibly gasped and instantly thought back to the “Hyacinthus and Apollo Myth” and the fact that Hyacinthus was in the background when this scene happened just adds insult to injury

Fun fact! In some version of the myth it’s a genuine accident on Apollo’s part, and in others, Zephyrus purposely sets Apollo’s discus off course with the wind to kill Hyacinth out of jealousy
