I don’t agree with the comparison between Ruby and Freya. I’m not trying to tell who have more trauma. But despite being pressured by her mother, Freya had people to rely on like Ellen or her brother. She could have turned good and stood up from her mother but instead she choses to be bad and tried to kill Ruby. Ruby suffered mentally and physically and didn’t have anyone to relied yet she still turned out good and tries to survive. This does not excuse Freya who despite the pressure has everything she needs. She could have relied to Ellen on her problem!
