That is SO true, you may think of gourmand as the cooking expert, but saint has experience with proper heating techniques, AND has prior experience with giant sky chickens!

Setting the oven below absolute zero would certainly have enough physics breaking that we have no way to confirm or deny as to what would happen to the cake for this to be plausible.

Saint is my favorite. They seem like the sort to suggest seemingly crazy things that end up working and are actually rather logical once you're in the know about these things. The kind of madness that comes from living in a realm where that logic is sound, valid, and correct.
