This is great. By the way, to everyone asking, if you make them fall in the lava, their items that fall out will be despawned by the lava. Also, mobs spawn 24 blocks away from you vertically and horizontally, so for everyone asking, it needs to be at least 24-25 blocks high, but make it 28-30 to be safe. Making it higher than that wont help at all. Great tutorial, keep em coming.

Nice tip! I personally like to just build it near my house, because that way they're spawning while I am doing other things, and I can just stop by to collect every once in a while.

I made this exact grinder on Survival on my Xbox. It's 30 blocks high up in the sky. It does work however I am finding the spawning rate quite slow - I'm only getting about 1 mob dropping every 10 - 15 minutes of real time play. Also, I find that if you stand directly underneath the hole, the mobs will tend to drop out faster and more frequent, probably because they move towards your position on the ground and fall through the hole!!!
