It sounds like a number that calls random people and puts all the people in one call so everyone can here each other.

Cross talk on international phone lines, heard it before on an international call.  It just happens sometimes, think of all the calls that go through our international phone system on a daily basis.

this sounds very much to me like phone signals crossing into one anothers data paths, effectively putting multiple phones into the same call, sort of like an accidental conference call

You can hear the beep-plop as the calls are dropped in, like a call centre. Perhaps somebody was just making a massive conference call for fun.

I heard a call like this. I was trying to phone my friend and i chatted with her for about 10~ minutes about stuff and then it crackled and chirped and i said "HEY CAN YOU HEAR ME!"

That sounded so cool! If you could have a conversation with many people that would be even better!

Sounds so much like in the 60's you would phone a certain number and lots of people would talk all at once trying to talk to anyone and everyone at the same time ... but would finally hang up cause thre were to many people and you could not get a real fix on anyone...... some sort of electronic limbo ..... lots of fun for maybe 2 minutes !

Did you read...nice to meet you...did you read the other comments? This wasn't a phone call to me, phones all over the world were ringing for like five minutes. I picked up the phone, said hello, listened, hung the phone back up, it instantly rang again, listened, grabbed the camera, and recorded the last minutes, and it's happened before, several times. I've talked to a few people that this happened to, apparently world-wide.
