That is burnout mode. If you depress the accelerator fast you enter burn out, press it slow to the floor and you get launch control with no wheel spin.

I believe the E39 M5 will trash the E46 M3 in looks, value, power and everything else in between. Just pin the throttle and drop the M5 clutch and off you're gone.
