Believe it or not, back in the pre-rock era (mid 1950's), the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's performance of this arrangement of the BHOTR hit the top of the charts for best-selling record. The music industry has changed considerably since ;-)

This sounds like an excellent arrangement of the Battle hymn. I just wish the sounds quality were better.

@a55b47 sad how times have changed, isn't it? Now people are into this Lady Gaga, Bieber fever...techno, rap, and blast beats, all of which is noise... There's no more passion, soul, fire, or divine influence in any of "today's" music, like there was before. But hands down, this is truly better!

AMEN! AMEN! A topic (today's "music" -- or lack thereof) that has achieved "Soapbox" status with me. I'm delighted that I seem to have company. How did it all go so wrong?!

The arrangement is by Peter J. Wilhousky. Arguably the best arrangement there is.

Not just and arrangement the Wilhousky arrangement. From Wikipedia: Peter J. Wilhousky (1902, Passaic, New Jersey - 1978) was a popular American composer, educator, and choral conductor of Ukrainian/Rusyn ethnic extraction. His arrangement of the Battle Hymn of the Republic for Chorus, Band, and Orchestra, is probably the most famous arrangement of the hymn before the 1940s in the United States.

Peter J. Wilhousky dedicated this arrangement to The Mormon Tabernacle choir and they won their very first emmy with that arrangement.

They gotta do this again with better recording devices. The Wanamaker has huge sound.

Well an electro synth has its place too but not for certain types of music where only a live vibrating pipe or horn will do where a synthetic speaker insterment no matter how good will never match the origional syth the theater organ or in this case a combo organ that has some of both classical organs and some coupled pipes, much like the even larger boardwalk hall organ.
