Yeah, when I played this as a kid, it scared me quite a bit. I wasn't used to hearing sad sounding compositions then. When I got to Showdown With Shocker, I kept dying because I sucked at web zipping and got wrecked trying to avoid the blasts in the tunnels. After that I turned the music off before playing again.

I think everyone got the sad effect from this song because the tone really embodies the vibe of death/failure, it feels like something has come to an end abruptly. Whoever composed this track was really into their music theory for sure

Lol, I heard this a lot when I was little playing the game. I was unbelievably terrible at this game and could never get passed the mission where you had to sneak around Oscorp Headquarters. I rebought the game recently and beat the whole thing. I'm very proud of myself.
