NOTE: In 2003 the developers still expected players to read the manual.

You forgot to mention by selecting car change in your menu, you have two sub-menu: your normal Garage that stores up to 5 cars locally and Sub-Garage. In the sub-garage, you can store in more cars per PS2 Memory Card, which allows to save your cars elsewhere without selling them to allow you to expand your garage. I find this feature extremely helpful.

I get the weird feeling that the reason there's no civilian traffic in the game and, instead, just race official vans might have something to do with some of the car companies in this game, particularly Toyota, not wanting their cars associated with illegal street racing, whereas the previous games in the series only had lookalike cars with no official licensing so Genki was free to have the cars racing in traffic.

In my honest opinion、the txr series has been a solid game for car enthusiasts, from the shutoko type games that involve highway racing, in which i see it as a nfs competitor. And there are the kaido games, which involve mountain pass point to point style racing, for example, my favorite kaido game, kb3 is in my opinion one of the best racing games on ps2, and i almost see it as a competitor to Gran Turismo 4.

I mean, the fact that the game accounts for rear wing giving aero stability, parts changing the weight of the car, tyre wear and temperature, different weather conditions actually having a difference on which type of tyre you'll chose is the reason I whole-heartedly love this game since I started playing it back in 2004.

A long held sentiment of mine is: TXR series is literally Dark Souls of racing game.

Loved this game so much!!! Engine swaps and endless tuning made this game so great, along with the randomness of driving. Oridos Supra!

Interesting, the game looks super fun and the amount of content in this is wonderful, I've been test driving this game a few times and I'll do something big with it one day.

I recommend Tokyo Extreme Racer Zero over Tokyo Extrem Racer 3.

Txr0 is my all time favorite. I did learn as a kid that if you race for many hours non stop in txr3 without returing to garage, and almost never lifting off the gas, the temp gauge will get hot

If you like the RPG aspect of TXR3, you might like Racing Lagoon on the PS1. That’s more of a typical RPG but instead of wandering around battling random monsters, you do wander around doing races with random cars. If you win, you pick a car part to take from the rando. You def need a guide for that game tho
