I honestly like how it has more realistic animatronic details like pistons, layered sheet metal parts and rivets for things like the teeth and eyes, and fiverglass patches where a suit would be slid onto

Theory: The mimic lost parts of itself during the earthquake, and it used parts from endoskeletons to repair itself, which is why it looks different to the mimic in the books.

Ngl the new mimic looks ghastly especially with those human like teeth. I personally prefer him

I admittedly prefer the official one, since it feels more retro, more... human , if you will. It creeps me out more. I wish the official model had some semblance of rabbit ears, too, but eh.

Idk why I thought of this but what if someone combined the models in some way. I think that would look cool

Ruins one is way better, the fanmade one is literally just a glamrock endo with rabbit ears, the ruins one feels dangerous and creepy with human like teeth and something that resembles hair like he's trying to mimic a human, the fanmade one looks like one small push and you knock it over.

I like the official design because it’s creepy how scuffed it looks and yet despite how scuffed it is, it’s a fucking behemoth of a machine. The rabbit ears on the fan made looks stupid

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I prefer the fanmade version over the original.

It's just me but the mimic's torso and neck looks like a Gundam Frame from Post Disaster Gundam timeline
