Fuck me, that was refreshing. Thank you!

This probably is going to do a lot of damage to this guy's career, but I respect the hell out of him for calling it like it is

This makes so much sense & doesn't really surprise me. So many recent movies look and feel so messy and much less focus on leading with intention.

THANK YOU FOR BEING HONEST

I love the honesty, if I had cash I'd hire him because the honesty is so refreshing and can be helpful in the collaboration.

There is more passion in 30 seconds of kingdom of heaven that in the full cinematography of gladiator 2.
PrivateAckbar (52 minutes ago)
People aren't talking about how bad the cinematography is in Gladiator 2. You can tell they had big problems with blocking, shots, lighting. Parts of it look like if budget TV.

Ridley seems like a man in a big rush. So many of his recent projects would have really benefited from more time instead of jumping from project to project as fast as possible.

Refreshing honesty and great insight into why super sucessful directors lose their edge. At a certain point they don't want to be questioned, or hear the word 'no'. They end-up surrounding themselves with 'yes men' and the work suffers.

People assuming this is some recent development with Ridley should take another look at his filmography. American Gangster, Body of Lies, Matchstick Men... all shot with basic coverage and not much concern with image-making. He has always had varied attitudes towards cinematography. You can't always assume he wants his films to be hyper stylized, just because he made Blade Runner. Napoleon also looked fantastic.

This isn’t just Ridley Scott. This is the problem with MANY films now. Digital and CGi has made people lazy.
Hboybatman (20 hours ago)
Everyone in the audience is aware that Ridley Scott is more of a machine than an artist. Every time a new movie by him comes out, the reaction is the same. "It was okay I guess, could've been better." But Ridley doesn't want better, he doesn't even try making great movies anymore, he just makes them for the sake of it with little passion remaining. The guy works on autopilot and people are getting sick of it.
