The understanding of what is going on (and lack thereof) is what makes it amazing. The accretion discs that are spinning around the black hole are moving at nearly the speed of light. We're passing through the discs here but in reality we'd be torn to shreds by the absolute insane conditions that exist. You're seeing massive objects move at incomprehensible speeds. Imagine our Sun charging at us at almost the speed of light and then the Sun HIT you. There is no human comprehension of a world at this scale or violence. We're also missing elements like the fact that time completely stops at the event horizon and we have no idea what would happen if you were to look out. Would you see the entire Universe at every instance of time, or in other words, would you see everything that ever was happen at every time? Humans who aren't mindblown by the Universe are too petrified of their own egos to admit to themselves how infinitesimal mankind is.
