I just started playing quake 4 on the Xbox 360 and noticed the bad framer rate but I found out that quake 4 is one of the few games on the Xbox 360 that if you change your xbox 360 to 480p the frame rate actually improves. I tried changing it to 480p and the frame rate is way better, sure it look worse but it is playable now. Also the bonus disc that includes quake 2 can be played at 1080p 60fps

It plays a bit better in 480p. Still not perfect, but quite a bit more playable. I know, most games internal resolutions don't change, but this is an exception.

Pretty impressive looking (indoors, at least) for early 360, but yeah, that frame rate is naff.

Cool dude I just found that rare Quake bonus disk in my collection and popped it in my 360 elite and it works perfectly. Going to play Quake 1 remaster on my PS5 and play Quake 2 after those were fantastic games

It's a real shame, as Quake II had a great PS1 port and proved the series works on consoles.

I would have liked to have played the original Quake but didn't get the chance but I loved Quake 2 and 3 and even played that strange strategy game one. As for Quake 4 - I dont know much about it so this was interesting.

I was genuinely surprised by how badly this game ran. I don’t play PC games often and prefer to own games so I picked this one up on a whim forgetting that it’s not backward compatible on the Xbox Series X. I have been having weird audio sync issues too. I don’t know if that’s because of Quake 4 or my Xbox 360 but I didn’t notice anything off until I attempted playing Q4. It’s really a shame because the game is interesting and that becoming a strogg scene is why I’ve always been curious about Q4. Guess I’ll have to try it on pc.
