To anyone who thinks that Mari may have survived the fall due to her eyes looking up at Sunny in the truth photos: those weren't completely accurate pictures; the lighting didn't make any real sense and they were taken from what Sunny imagined was Basil's perspective. Sunny checked if she was breathing with no luck, sitting at her bedside and watching her. It's pretty much confirmed she was deceased, and if this weren't the case we most likely would have more proof.

The fact that sunny is chillin and don't get any felling of instant regret or fear when he noticed what he done (prob cuz mari still alive lol) is epok

As another commenter mentioned, yeah, No one's eyes are capable of looking up when unconscious or dead, gravity would pull them down. Mari had to have a small semblance of conciousness at the time of being hung. To kids however, the stairs is what killed Mari because medical knowledge is not a thing to them
