This special OVA specifically made for Garfield and Friends really was too good for us at the time.

The fact they picked “Getting High” from “Keep Cool, Cat!”, an actual album of music for Garfield, is just the cherry on top with all the detail they put into this

i love that nice touch on using getting high as the background music, i was also thinking that music would fit in the sonic ova.

I thought Metal Garfield helped shake up the Garfield comic strips in the early 90s. Some might say it jumped the shark, having Jon buy a robotic Garfield to try and get Garfield to exercise and lose weight, but I think it brought out an edgy 90s cool to Garfield.

The fact that this plays out exactly like the scene its based on, location and all, implies this continuity to a tee, meaning there is a hypothetical scene of Hyper Metal Garfield saying "There is only one Garfield" and then fucking dying
