The first few times I went to the Medano I rode in my uncles Model A Ford. There were a couple spots where we had to back up the steep hills because the gravity feed gasoline wouldn't flow if we didn't. Medano lake is one of the prettier ones in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains but it's a hike.
