The fact that so many of these games are 8 bucks makes me think of an Eric Cartman quote: "anything fun is at least 8 dollars". So these games are the minimum "fun" requirements

I'll give this to Muzy, it has the funniest 'You got caught' jumpscare I've ever seen. Just an ass beating from gangrenous Mickey Mouse

I’d love to see a mascot horror game where you are the mascot, and view everything through the eyes of a child friendly mascot. Basically the environment and enemies and yourself all look like something out of a rated E adventure game, but when you reach the very end the illusion is shattered and you learn you’re a monstrous entity that killed your handlers. And nothing from teasers or trailers exposes that twist, so absolutely no one will know what they’re signing up for

Something that I want to point out about Five Nights at Freddy's is that the reason why the antagonists are animatronics was because that was practically what Scott Cawthon was limited to. His previous game, Chipper & Sons Lumber Co., had character designs that were criticized for being uncanny as animatronics. This in turn, provided a limitation that Scott used to his advantage by making a horror game that truly utilizes his unintentionally uncanny design philosophy. That right there really goes to show how one's limitations can amplify their creativity.

Interesting how Bendy and Poppy were both considered poor mascot horror cash grabs (which given the marketables and NFT’s makes sense) but now they’re iconic, likely due to the clear focus and effort put into their chapters

You know the unfortunate thing about wallace. He has a good design. Like, it's a breath of fresh air from the animal/creature mascots in the genre, but they didn't capitalize on it. Instead, they make him another generic enemy. They could have made him have more of a personality, making him out to be a sadistic performer who every other creature fears because of his power. Hell, GIVE HIM UNIQUE ABILITIES THAT PLAY INTO HIS MAGICIAN MOTIF!

There is one good mascot horror game that came out somewhat recently that went under most people’s radar. It’s called shipwrecked 64. The easiest way to describe it is that it’s like if something like petscop was a real game you could play.

I love FNAF but I’m getting really tired of “dead kid controlling animatronic/ mascot”

18:52 Most of these games are doing the sequels route rather than chapters as it allows them to abuse the Popular New Releases and Upcoming tabs on Steam, bringing them more attention. If they merely did the DLC chapter route they wouldn't get such opportunities for traction. It's certainly not the right thing to do but there is reasoning behind it.

Currently working on a remake of Garten of BanBan called "Hellementary". Hopefully you like it more than some of the others on this list.

I'd like to see a mascot horror parody where the mascots are just minding their own business and want to be left alone, but plucky journalists/teens on a dare/influencers keep breaking into their home and making a mess. The "lore" about the mascots being murdered children/serial killers/demonic spirits/etc. is explicitly a bunch of false rumors that spiraled out of control.
