Honestly, the idea that Jotaro has PTSD from SC is actually how I theorise why his ability as both a husband and a parent went so far south. Think about it: the first time he gets close to people and half of them die horrible deaths (and a fourth one comes close and then decides to reveal his survival by scratching an EXTREMELY fresh mental scar left by the fight with Dio he barely survived). After that and then all of the bull in DIU, he's probably terrified of getting close to people when everyone drops like flies around him. Combine that with him probably having no healthy coping mechanism and you've got somebody who's convinced himself that Jolyne is safest if he stays as far away as possible.
