Since I was about 7, I learned that the best way to deal with pinballing is to let go of the accelerator, and then press it again to have a small boost forward. That's also the best way to deal with 90 angles and close turns such as the ones in Silence and Fire field.

Well you did consume acceleration, which increased the rebound at the perfect angle on that curve, which also made you explode faster.
