If you loosen the screws on the barrel bands the wooden Ram Rod will slide out. I did that and bought a reproduction Ram Rod for the 1853 3 band rifle / Musket. Then I measured the length of the wooden rod and cut the metal one to the same length. It fit right in. Now it looks a little more realistic. I also bought a sling for it.

I think if you want to be a reenactor you should go for it (yes, it's expensive at first but I think you could pull it off, it may just take a little while) I appreciate the review, this really helps with making up my mind on buying this or not

Yes the ramrod is removable I did it by removing the first band and sliding it out and then placing the first band back then sliding the rammer back
