This thing doesn't need bombs, it blasts it's enemy with noise until they surrender...

Them coaxial contra-rotating props tho. Soviet-era tech is cool as hell.

"how much sound do these engines generate?"
Airforceproud95 (27 minutes ago)
Absolutely unbelievable prop action! Never seen anything like this.

I have heard stories from retired Bear crewman and a vast majority of them have permanent hearing damage from those engines. No amount of hearing protection works because the sound waves pass through the head, not just through the ear canal. The pilots sat well forward and were not too bad off, but the others in the center, like the bombardier, navigator and radioman were right between the wings and bore the brunt of it.

As iconic as the B-52. These two warbirds just keep going and going.

It uses the most powerful turboprop engine ever built, Kuznetsov NK-12: 14,800 shaft horsepower (11,000 kW) each! Driving contra-rotating props that, at full power, exceed the speed of sound at the tips... Making it one of the noisiest aircraft ever.

I love the sound of those Kuznetsov engines.

The Mighty Bear.....saw one up close and very low over my ship when we were underway in the Sea Of Ohkosk (sp) A truly awesome airplane, we laughed, waved and gave the crew the one finger salute. They did the same and I was glad, it was a reminder that we are all people

Submariners have claimed they can hear this engine under water.

I love how the cameras frame rate per second creates the illusion these fast spinning propellers are still or spinning backwards. Very impressive engines.

You don't have to be a fan of Russia or the Soviet Union to appreciate this beautiful plane.
dejanpopovic7903 (20 hours ago)
These engines are incredibly fuel efficient.

Pros: +You get a bomber that’s incredibly efficient and robust

An incredible plane... the Tu-95! I love the sound of it's engines and in my opinion one of the most beautiful prop planes ever built! Thanks for the show...I thoroughly enjoyed every minute!

Now we know why the Soviet Air Forces' pilots and crew all went deaf.

Around 84 a TU-95 Bear did a low level pass of our carrier, escourted by 2 F-14's, and it was about 1.5mi from the ship off port side. It was LOUD but was amazing to see this huge plane flying at such a low altitude.

What a treat, thank you! From its thin, graceful lines to the awesome prop sounds, it's my favorite aircraft still flying, I think.

I can actually feel the spirit of USSR in that plane. Stunning.
