I really enjoy that Dr Coomer in this isn’t just a malfunctioning tutorial NPC, he feels like a tutorial NPC from a much more light hearted childrens game who’s somehow been implanted in a gruesome horror shooter and can still only react jovially

My take on Benrey is that he's an anti-piracy measure and the whole passport thing is a prompt for someone to look at a monkey island code wheel type thing to verify their copy of the game. Because he's self aware and hard-coded to prevent pirates from progressing normally, he becomes the antagonist. Should've bought the game, Wayne.

The person who acts Dr Coomer is definitely the most convincing. He feels like he has a few bugs as he repeats sentences and sticks with a tone of voice which sounds consistent every time.

New idea/headcanon at 15:44 Gordon says, "Do you know who this guy is? I've never seen him on the job in my life." I think it was Benrey's first day, and that explains why he was so determined to get Gordon's passport. And that explains why the other guards didn't care about why Gordon didn't have his passport.

I like how this is the opposite of freemans mind. Instead of crazy asshole freeman going through the game, dude rolls like a Lovecraft protag, just horrified and bewildered constantly by people and world.

I love how the premise of this is that Wayne is just playing a secret prototype version of the game with hyper-advanced ai, but the second he is in game, he becomes Gordon and suddenly has a son and graduated from M.I.T.

"it's okay I'm not human" and "tommy likes mean people that's why he talked to you" are such heavy foreshadowing sentences and yet at the time they were just jokes. Goddamn.
